LARIO CALZATURIFICIO 1898 S.P.A.
The Story
The history of the Lario footwear Company goes back to 1898 in the little town of Cirimido, near Como with its beatiful lake, that gives its name to the Company.
The founder, Gerolamo Saibene, was just fifteen years old when he set out to improve on his humble origins, by opening a small workshop next to his home, where he made simple footwear for man and boys using cheap materials, selling them to the local farmers.
The entrepreneurship and skill of this authentic self-made man enabled him to expand his business in short time, until it become a full-fledged factory that, by 1910, already had almost 300 workers.

This is how it all got started, for a Company that has every right to claim the status of one of the oldest shoemarkers in Italy. In the 1925 the Company changes its business structure from a partnership to a corporation, with a name very similar to its current one. At the same time it began to produce footwear for women, and its staff kept growing until it employed over 500 workers before World War II. In the fifties, with almost 300 employees, the Company worked almost entirely for the market.
Since 1965, with its current staff of 100 employees, it produces high quality women's footwear, sold mainly on the European market.
The company has always had a strong commitment to quality and for this reason was selected by some of the most prestigious brands in the world to realize their shoes. Among these we would like to mention Giorgio Armani, Jil Sander, Alessandro Dell'Acqua, Etro, Trussardi and many others.
